A brilliant community effort at the Black Spout Woodland the other day. Around 20 volunteers from Pitlochry Path Group and from Tayside Woodland Partnerships planted some 200 young saplings in the woods. Much thanks to the Woodland Trust for sending us the wee Hazel, Hawthorn, Holly, Willow, and Downy Birch. The weather was beautiful and a great day was had by all. The woodland is wonderful, but most of the trees are of a similar age, so it’s important to plant young trees to diversify its age structure to ensure its long term health.
