Around 16 volunteers devoted 6 hours across two days to complete this second phase of planting at Tradecoaters Field, where approximately 300 well-spaced trees are now growing.
This year’s planting comprised of:
- 15 oak trees propagated from local acorns gathered at Black Spout
- 2 established oak saplings, standing over a metre tall, which the landowner transported from Edinburgh
- 5 crab apple trees (Malus sylvestris)
- Roughly 220 (of 240) trees, kindly donated to Tayside Woodland Partnerships by Carbon Footprint Ltd and supplied by Cheviot Trees.
- The remaining 20 trees gifted by Carbon Footprint Ltd will be planted at another site (Alastair’s Wood, Spittalfield) as additional understory.
