On 18th October 2025, we had a replanting day at Tradecoaters Field in Pitlochry, continuing our long-term woodland creation project. A group of volunteers came together to plant a variety of trees, replanting those that had failed due to a variety of reasons including the recent dry summer.

Planting Details

The following trees were planted (majority for local seed source):

• 15 Oaks (approximately 20cm tall) – 5 were prospects which were moved
• 2 Alders (approximately 20cm tall)
• 2 Hollies (approximately 20cm tall)
• 1 Rowan (approximately 1m tall)
• 1 Hazel (approximately 60cm tall)
• 1 Elm (approximately 60cm tall)
• 1 Cryptomeria ‘Elegans’ (approximately 20cm tall) – arboretum addition grown from a cutting.
• 1 Hawthorne (approximately 1m tall)

Volunteers also mulched the bases of some of the trees to support their growth and protect them from weeds and moisture loss.
